General Questions

Do I need to leave a deposit? Yes, all orders require at least a 50% deposit upon booking. Your order will not go into the Orders Calendar without a deposit.

Please have your desired date, pick up/delivery time, cake size (if applicable), quantity, flavor, filling (for cakes), and frosting selections ready. A photo reference is also required for speciality orders. PLEASE research prior to placing your order. Due to an overwhelming amount of inquires, we are unable to research inspirations cakes for you.

We accept cash and all major credit cards.

Yes we do. Please contact us for pricing. We do not ship.

Yes! We have case cakes available daily! Selections vary on a day to day basis.

At this time we currently do not carry any dairy-free, sugar-free, or vegan desserts. Please feel free to check back in with us on a normal basis as we are working on some recipes to help make some these options available to our customer base.

We always carry a selection of Gluten-Free Baked goods in our gluten-free case in store everyday. We make Gluten-Free cakes and cupcakes by special order. Gluten-free cakes and cupcakes are not always available by walk-in. We are NOT a gluten free facility. All of our desserts are baked in the same oven and are prepared with the same tools and equipment.

We take every precaution when washing and sanitizing our kitchen utensils and equipment. We have provided our desserts to many schools and families who have gluten allergy concerns, and have always had positive feedback. Please notify us of any allergy concerns prior to consuming our goods or placing an order. All of our gluten-free products are made using King Arthur 1 on 1 Gluten Free Flour.

Please remember that we are not your average bakery. We are a speciality dessert shop that bakes fresh daily. Every cake/cupcake order is MADE TO ORDER. All basic cupcake/cake orders must be placed 1 week in advance. We book occasion cakes/cupcakes 2-3 weeks in advance, and can only accept a certain amount of specialty orders per week. We recommend ordering your cake or cupcakes as soon as you know the details! Once a weekend is fully booked, we are not able to accept any more orders. Large orders should be booked at least 1-2 months in advance to avoid disappointment.

The easiest way to place an order is by filling out an inquiry form on our website. Not a computer person? No problem, give us a call at 717-449-5247 and we will help you out! Our busiest days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you are calling to book, confirm, or go over an order, recommend calling between Wednesday and Thursday as we will be able to spend more time helping you.

With the exception of number cakes we do not offer sheet cakes at this time.

No. Once an order is placed we are unable to make any changes to it. We ask that you wait to place an order until you are sure about your numbers and all details then we will be happy to assist you placing an order.

Yes. If you do decide to cancel your order any refund to you will be your balance paid, minus our 50% non-refundable retainer and deposit fee to cover our time for ordering and processing associated with taking and cancelling your order, as well as potential orders we had to turn away to be able to accommodate your order, and any supplies we had to special order to produce your order. The Non Refundable deposit and retainer is non-transferrable.

Basic orders must be cancelled within 72 Hours of due date. If you are looking to cancel a tiered cake or any cake involving fondant we require a minimum 1 week cancellation notice. We understand emergencies happen, but we must have these adequate time requirements to be able to allow for a cancellation.

We are sorry but we are unable to accommodate same day orders. Feel free to call our store and we will be happy to check We must receive the balance by the due date indicated when you place your order.  After the due day the order is void, and availability on any of our products for you though.

Wedding Consultation Questions

No. In order to allow us to be adequately prepared for your consultation, an appointment must be scheduled prior to your tasting to allow us to prepare the specific cakes, fillings, and icings, as well as have the wedding cake specialist available for you.

Please bring any ideas, colors, themes, photos, invitations, color swatches, photos of you wedding dress, and number of expected guests. Anything that you would like to incorporate onto the design of your wedding cake will be helpful to have present at the consultation. We also will need to know the wedding date, location, and time of delivery. We are here to help you make your special day a success and a beautiful memory!

Payments for wedding cakes must be paid in full 4 weeks prior to the wedding date. Failure to communicate and pay the remaining balance will put your cake in jeopardy of not being completed in time or critical design eliminates to be omitted such as sugar-paste flowers since we cannot complete the work without payment.  We must receive the balance by the due date indicated when you place your order.  After the due date the order is void, and deposit will not be refunded.

We do not provide fresh flowers. Your personal florist must prepare the flowers and they must be delivered to the bakery the night before the morning of the event, or they must be waiting on the cake table for us to place them upon delivery to the venue.

Yes, We charge $50 per cake tasting and that includes our 4 seasonal cake slices for up to 4 to sample.  

An additional tasting plate fee of $20 per person is added for parties more than 4.

All consultations must be paid in full in advance.

Yes. Additional cake flavors can be added to your cake tasting at $20 per flavor + $5 per person for any additional parties of more than 4.

At this time we currently do not offer treat samples. If you are interested in treats for a treat table we recommend purchasing from the walk-in case and choosing from our constantly rotating bars and treats.

We deliver as far as you need us to. Keep in mind, the further the delivery, The higher the delivery fee. Pricing for delivery is based on a number of factors that will be discussed during the consultation.

We highly recommend scheduling a consultation a minimum of 4 months in advance. We recommend waiting to book your consultation until you are ready to commit to a cake for your wedding with a deposit. By scheduling a consultation prior to being ready to put down a deposit you risk having to redo a consultation for us to get all the details again since we only keep unpaid deposit wedding consultations on file for 14 days before we discard them.

The Golden Whisk Refund Policy

No. Once a cake is picked up in satisfactory condition and has left the building the Golden Whisk Bakery is no longer responsible for it. We highly recommend any cake two tiers and taller be delivered by us since we have the experience to safely deliver tiered and structured cakes from Point A to Point B. Once delivery is waived to leave the store with the cake we will require a “Cake-Pick up agreement” be signed. This agreement states that you understand that any damage done to the cake once it leaves our store is your responsibility.

Once you or a designated party has picked up an order and signed for it, it is considered “accepted” – we will ask to make sure that everything is correct such as the design, spelling, etc. Refunds requested due to decorating style, writing, color shade, or general design will not be honored after signing for your cake. In some instances you may bring the cake back in for design adjustments but this is an additional charge if the cake has been signed for.

Cake flavor and texture is subjective. Full refunds requested due to flavor or texture after the cake has been accepted and picked up will not be honored. You may qualify for a percentage of a store credit if the product is brought back and the quality of the cake flavor or texture is determined to not meet our standards. Cakes must be brought back to us within a timely manner, preferably with 24 hours of pick up – please call or email us promptly to let us know of the issue. Quality determination is solely at the discretion of The Golden Whisk. Please understand that we cannot issue refunds for cakes that have already been completely eaten. *Store credit percents are based on how quickly the cake is returned, how much has been consumed, and what we determine the quality to be. Store credits of any kind will not be issued to customers who do not contact us within 48 hours.
